Pete - Admin UPDATE: Venus Transit at Siding Spring
Our public and video webcasting event covering the Venus transit at SSO was very successful. The skies at Siding Spring were mostly clear and we imaged all four contacts of Venus from start to end for our very large video audience and to the delight of our local visitors.
Hundreds of visitors came to the mountian to watch the planet Venus cross the Sun, with solar filtered telescopes everywhere. Our webcast was seen by tens of thousands. We would like to give thanks all those involved here at SSO and to the iTelescope staff that workied hard to make it all possible.

iTelescope in conjunction with the ANU Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics and the AAO, will be making available to those that cannot get outdoors a LIVE video feed of the upcoming Venus Transit of the Sun during June 5/6 2012. The event starts with first contact at approx 0816AM June 6th Australian Eastern Standard Time +10 UTC.
We will be streaming LIVE from the Australian Astronomical Observatory here at Siding Spring during a public viewing event with many solar telescope on site for visitors to use. Hope you can drop in and join us for this rare event.
